The new Microsoft Teams Reading Coach feature allows students to practice and improve their confidence with reading aloud and pronunciation. Students can read out loud to the reading coach, and it responds with helpful feedback to improve accuracy and highlight any words the student has struggled with.
You can access this feature through Immersive Reader, which can be found in most Microsoft apps under View or using the Search bar.
How to use Reading Coach
Once you have opened Immersive Reader:
- Select Reading Preferences (Open book icon).
- Toggle on Reading Coach.
Tip: Make sure your microphone is enabled, and your browser has permission to use your microphone.
3. Tap Start reading and begin to read the passage. You can record up to 10 minutes.
4. Stop recording by tapping Stop.
A reading report will appear after you stop recording, showing accuracy, time spent reading, correct words per minute and the number of suggested words to practice.
Practice words in Reading Coach
Your reading report may suggest a number of words to practice.
- Tap on Practice words to start practising.
2. Select the word you would like to practice.
3. From here, you can listen to the word, see a picture of the word (Picture Dictionary) and hit record to practice your pronunciation.
