Create eye-catching alert banners in SharePoint

courtneyfarrow

Create eye-catching alert banners for important announcements at the top of your SharePoint Homepage with our exclusive CDB Alerts feature.

You can create and schedule alerts to users across your SharePoint intranet like the ones below. This is really handy if you have important information to share, such as travel disruptions, shift changes or policy updates.

Nowadays, our inboxes seem to be overflowing with messages, announcements and notifications. We can quickly become overwhelmed with the amount of communications we have to process on a daily basis.

At Cloud Design Box, we help organisations streamline their communications so everyone gets the right information, at the right time.

The CDB Alerts and Announcements feature is just one way we’re helping you overcome inbox overwhelm.

Instead of relying on email for your most critical updates and changes, you can use the alerts banner to put them right at the top of your SharePoint Homepage, capturing immediate attention and ensuring that important announcements are seen by everyone.

Here’s how it works:

Contact Cloud Design Box support if you would like this feature enabled on your site.

How to create an alert banner in SharePoint

CDB Announcement Alerts are based on a SharePoint List, which can be found in the Site Contents of your Homepage.

  1. Hit + New to add a new alert (list item).
  2. Enter your alert Title – this will be the main text on the alert banner.
  3. Choose a Status – this will change the colour of your alert banner.

Urgent = Red

Important = Amber

Information = Blue

Success = Green

4. Select a Start date and End date – this is when you want your banner to show in SharePoint. You can even schedule ahead of time!

5. Add a link to more information about your alert, when necessary. You can adapt the Alternative Text for a cleaner look. For example “Read more”.

6. Hit Save to add your new alert to the list. Your new alert banner will display during the Start date and End date you set for it.
