How to access Maths Progress
Accessing Maths Progress is easy:
- Open Microsoft Teams and navigate to your Class Team.
- Select Assignments from the left-hand menu.
- Tap Create and choose Learning Accelerators to set up a new assignment using Maths Progress.
How to create a Maths Progress Assignment in Teams
Create your own questions in Maths Progress
Get started by creating questions for your Maths Progress assignment:
- Tap Create your own.
- Select Add Questions
- Select a Category:
- Numbers and operations
- Fractions
- Expressions and equations
- Algebra
- Choose a Topic:
- Addition and subtraction
- Multiplication and division
- Mixed operations with numbers
- Factoring numbers
- Operations with decimals
Tip: Choosing a Category and Topic allows Teams to suggest areas where a student may have struggled.
5. Choose between Short Answer and Multiple Choice.
6. Start entering your questions and assigning the number of points for a correct answer.
7. You can enter the equation beneath the question. On the right-hand side of the field is a mathematical keyboard, which brings up multiple formulas.
8. The system will generate the answers, which you can go through and edit independently.
9. Tap Save.

Teachers can use AI to generate questions in just a few clicks.
- Select Generate.
- Select a Category:
- Numbers and operations
- Fractions
- Expressions and equations
- Algebra
- Choose a Topic:
- Addition and subtraction
- Multiplication and division
- Mixed operations with numbers
- Factoring numbers
- Operations with decimals
- Hit Generate.
- This provides a list of potential questions for your students with the correct answer.
- Select the questions you want to add to your assignment. These will stack on the right-hand side of the screen – that is your Maths Progress Quiz so far.
Set a Maths Progress Assignment
When you’re happy with your questions, you can set up an assignment for your class.
- Select Next.
- You have the opportunity to edit your questions, but if you’re happy, choose Done.
- Input your assignment details. Here’s some more information about Assignments in Microsoft Teams.
- Tap Assign to assign now or Schedule for the future.

Let’s look at your students’ view.
There is a Welcome Message that leads them to Get Started.
From here, they can work their way through the multiple-choice quiz.
In the top right, they can check their progress.
Tip: Students can opt to see questions One at a time or All questions.
How to grade a Maths Progress quiz
Maths Progress Quizzes are self-marking, but you can still go into the assignments to check, give feedback and highlight misconceptions.
- Head to Assignments and hit Ready to grade to view the assignments that are ready to grade.
- Choose the Maths Progress quiz you assigned earlier.
- Select a student’s name to open their completed quiz.
- Quizzes are self-marking, so you can see the % grade and points total at the top.
- You can add or remove misconceptions underneath each incorrect question.
- You can add feedback in the right-hand side bar.
- Hit Return to return the assignment back to the student.
