Liberty Academy Trust has developed a Digital Literacy Programme to boost staff confidence in its digital tools and systems, with the support of Cloud Design Box.
As a growing specialist SEND multi academy trust, Liberty is committed to improving the educational experience of its pupils, so they can achieve success now and in the future.
One part of this story has been a significant investment into the MAT’s digital infrastructure.
The trust provides a wide range of tools and systems to its staff and students, including one-to-one devices for every pupil.
To make the most out of this investment, Liberty has developed a dedicated Digital Literacy Programme for its staff members, facilitated by Cloud Design Box’s training portal and live support sessions.
We spoke with Lisa Thompson, Head of Digital Data and Technology, to find out more about the programme and the impact it has had across the MAT.
Developing a Digital Literacy Programme at Liberty MAT
“We’re a growing, values-driven multi academy trust specialising in exceptional inclusive education for autistic children and young people. We combine personalised teaching, therapeutic support and commitment to preparing every pupil for success and into adulthood,” explains Lisa.
Based on previous positive experiences, Lisa knew that Cloud Design Box’s similar values-driven approach would be the perfect fit to support the MAT with its digital environment.
From its inception, Cloud Design Box supported the MAT with the planning, build and roll out of a robust digital platform that included a trust-wide intranet, communication and collaboration spaces, plus automated Class Team creation.

“Cloud Design Box has helped us build a training model where our staff feel really supported,” Lisa tells us.

The Cloud Design Box Training Portal is a central space for on-demand video training sessions that aim to boost confidence, drive adoption and fit around busy teacher and school admin timetables.
“Staff can learn at their own pace and return to it whenever they need to,” she adds.

“We’ve got a great resource, but it’s only great if people know how to use it,” Lisa sums it up perfectly.
“For me, it’s a moral imperative now to make sure we make the best use of the money – thanks to the training and support Cloud Design Box has provided, we really are capitalising on that investment.”
