Microsoft has announced that it is retiring its Assignments and Courses adaptive card extensions (ACE) in Viva Connections and SharePoint, leaving many schools with no way to pull together an assignments or class overview in their school dashboards.
Luckily, for Cloud Design Box customers, there will be little to no disruption.
We already have SharePoint Web Parts for My Assignments and My Classes and we have now launched the equivalent Viva Connections cards.

What is happening to Microsoft’s Assignments and Courses adaptive card extensions in Viva Connections?
Microsoft has announced it will be retiring its Assignments and Courses adaptive card extensions in Viva Connections and SharePoint. These cards surface data and actions from Microsoft 365 services or custom sources, helping users engage with content directly from their dashboard. The equivalent SharePoint dashboard webparts will also be retired.
From 30 June 2026, users will lose access.
It is part of Microsoft’s ongoing efforts to simplify and modernise the Viva Connections experience. But it will leave schools with no way to pull together an assignments or class overview in the Viva Connections Dashboard.
